Heaton House, Lancashire : View of the South Front, engr.1832
Summary
Viiew of the South Front of Heaton Hall, across parkland, painted in a dark brown watercolour wash with white highlights. Four deer rest beneath a tree, and a pair of trees occupy the right middle ground. The foliage is particularly feathery, and painted with a lively touch. Heaton Hall is a stately home to the north of Manchester. It was designed for Sir Thomas Egerton by James Wyatt in 1772. Manchester Art Gallery holds two copies of the print made after this watercolour, accession numbers 1941.8 and 1922.52.
