Summary

Public: Miniature teapot, cream coloured earthenware, transfer-printed overglaze in black with scenes of 'Tea Party' and 'The Shepherd'. Private: Ovoid miniature teapot, with double intertwined twisted cord handle with applied flower and leaf terminals, S-shaped spout with acanthus moulding at base, and beaded borders to foot and neck. Transfer-printed overglaze in black to left of handle, with 'Tea Party No.1', comprising lady and gentleman seated on garden bench before small tea table, gentleman stretching hand towards black servant carrying kettle to left, dog sitting at lady's feet to right, foliage in background. Side to right of handle printed with 'The Shepherd', shepherd boy seated against tree stump on grassy mound with crook in right hand, dog and three sheep in foreground to right, fence, trees and cottage in background. Shallow domed cover (not original) with applied rose finial on leafy stem. Pale cream coloured earthenware body with fine pale yellow glaze.
