The Well

Rudolph Ernest Charles Ihlee 1883 - 1968

Summary

Rural French scene of a group of Breton villagers carrying buckets gathered in a yard around a well. The people stand and talk as they collect water; a young boy stands beside a goat, branishing a stick at the animal. To the left of the scene, a pig drinks from a bucket on the ground, and to the right, the walls of a building are visible. There is a grassy behind the well, out of which sapling trees grow; beyond the scene, the sky is clear with scattered clouds.
