The infant is wearing a wide brimmed white bonnet with ribbon trim and a short sleeved long white dress with lace trim around the sleeves, white stockings and black shoes with ankle straps. the 2 young women are wearing identical wool dresses with loose 3/4 length sleeves, round necks and flat collars with a white frill. Their dresses have smocking across the chest and sleeve cuffs with a pleated centre front and wide belt.Their skirts are full with 3 rows of pleats above the hem. The seated woman has long hair worn back with a headband, she wears spectacles and she is holding a straw bonnet with a brim and 2 shades of ribbon made into bows. The standing woman has wavy hair worn loosely in a chignon, she is holding a straw hat with a ribbon. The young man is standing in the background he has neat side parted hair and a moustache and he is wearing spectacles. He is wearing a buttoned up suit jacket with a turned down collar and a thin black necktie tied in a bow. He has a hadkerchief in his top pocket.
