The young woman on the left is setaed with the infant in her arms, her hair is worn in a plaited chignon under a straw hat with a brim and decorative striped ribbon bow. She wears a wool dress with a fitted bodice , high standing collar, horse shoe pin and full length fitted sleeves with contrasting cuffs. She has a full skirt with a white apron. The infant is wearing a long white gown and bonnet. There is a parasol beside the woman. The other woman is standing beside her, she wears a similiar hat and a day dress with a fitted bodice, 3/4 length fitted sleeves and a draped skirt. Her bodice waist is belted with a slight pleated flair, fastening centre front with buttons to a high collar. She is holding a parasol with both hands. The old woman is seated beside her, her hair is pinned up under a white cap and she is wearing a dark silk dress with a fitted bodice and full length fitted sleeves. Her bodice has a watered silk insert down the centre front with rows of buttons either side, fastening to a high round neck.Her skirt is pleated with a draped over skirt and she is holding a cat. The other elderly woman is standing behing the old man, wearing a similiar dress with a white bonnet with a black band. The old man is seated, He has a beard and moustache and he is possibly wearing a bowler hat with a white handkerchief draped over it covering his neck. He is wearing a lounge suit with a turned down collar and a necktie and lace up leather shoes. The 2 boys are seated on the padded foot stools in front, both boys are wearing wide brimmed straw boaters, sailor type suits with shorts, black stockings and lace up leather shoes. The boy on the right is holding a tennis racket. Taken in front of a white house with creeping ivy and plants.
