Landscape with Sheep

James Aumonier 1832 - 1911

Summary

Rural landscape depicting a meadow with grazing sheep. A rough bramble hedge runs diagonally through the centre of the grassland from the left to the right of the composition. On the right-hand side of the hedge a flock of sheep can be seen, and in the foreground to the right a lone sheep follows another, moving away from the group. In the centre to the right of the scene, two autumnal trees stand beneath an overcast sky, and in the distance, fields in shades of green and brown line the horizon.
