wedding dress
Elizabeth & David Emanuel 1953 (EE born)
Summary
Wedding dress of embroidered net with silk bodice and net skirt and full sleeves; boned bodice with half length sleeves and net bertha collar; full skirt with deep ruffled hem and worn over a vast net petticoat. This dress is very reminiscent of the celebrated 1981 bridal gown created by the Emanuels for Diana, Princess of Wales. Indeed, this dress was on view in the showroom when Diana first visited to decide on the style of her wedding dress and served as a prototype. The dress was made in association with Liberty of London. Unworn - unsold shop stock from the Emanuels - sold at auction by Elizabeth Emanuel on 13 November 2008.
