Potato Sorting, Berwick

Evelyn Mary Dunbar 18/12/1906 - 1960

Summary

A frieze-shaped painting of some farmers sorting potatoes. Two women on right of picture are feeding potatoes into the sorting machine with large forks, three women and two men on the left of the picture are sorting potatoes into wire bowls and sacks. It is very simplistically and stylistically painted, and predominately brown in colour: the potatoes, the landscape, their clothing, the sacks. There is a cloudy skyscape in the upper third of the work.
