Summary

Couture rubber latex icicle dress evening gown from the A/W 1999 'Snow Business' collection by Julien Macdonald: full length sleeveless dress in cream georgette, entirely covered in panels of cream dipped rubber and inset with glitter; covered overall with rubber fringes resembling candle-wax drips. Worn on the catwalk by Jodie Kidd. Julien Macdonald (b.1971) graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art and then worked for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel in the mid 1990s, also working freelance as with these garments. In 2000 he was appointed successor to Alexander McQueen at Givenchy and in 2001 he was named British Fashion Designer of the Year.
