Bank Holiday

Argent Brierley 1893 - 1960

Summary

Coastal bank holiday scene in Cromer, Norfolk. To the left of the composition, a promenade overlooks the beach where holiday makers lean on a wall, watching the activity below. Deck chairs and moored rowing boats line the crowded sands while children and adults bask in the sun, play games, and bathe in the sea as the waves gently lap the shore. A small jetty can be seen leading out to sea in the distacne to the left, and on the promenade, people come and go from a cafe with the words '..DOR CAFE' visible above the window.
