Summary

Cocktail dress with separate bolero stole in grey silk chiffon printed with a black carnation motif; full skirt, sleeveless, v-neck; labelled 'Eisa'. This model was from Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 1952 collection, and appeared in Jardin Des Modes, Feb 52. Belonged to Anne Moen Bullitt (1924-2007). Born in Paris and married 4 times. The second husband, Nicholas Duke Biddle was vice consul in the American Embassy in Madrid, giving Anne access to Balenciaga couture clothes with the Spanish name 'Eisa' operating in tandem with the Paris house. Anne Bullitt was tiny, making her clothes virtually unwearable for anyone else. This model was from Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 1952 collection, and appeared in Jardin Des Modes, Feb 52.
