coffee service
Summary
Public: Fifteen piece coffee service made of earthenware. 'Cypher' pattern, relief moulded on tall cylindrical vessels, decorated with transparent sage green glaze. Private: Lidded coffee pot, six cups, six saucers, milk jug and sugar bowl, tall cylindrical forms with flared rims, all glazed green with relief-moulded geometric designs in one column down each side. Cups and jug have four columns of tiny motifs: circles, crescents, stars, parallel lines, squares, diamionds and triangles; coffee pot and basin have five columns. Columns are flanked on all pieces by relief-moulded ribbed horizontal lines. Coffee pot lid is peaked in a conical shape with a disc-shaped knob. Handles are sharply angular and parallel to the straight sided bodies. Saucers are undecorated apart from the glaze. Coffee pot and creamer only on display.
