Summary

Plaster cast from original model in clay. Lionness rests threequarter length on plinth, with front legs and body raised, hind legs resting on the ground behind, tail between her legs. The plinth is elaborately decorated on one side with band of scrolling stylised leaf forms under half-completed band of plaiting. Lionness's head is turned slightly towards the front side from which the figure is intended to be viewed. Details on face painted in red and black ; eyes, nose, mouth, whiskers.
