Summary

Public: Thrown stoneware coffee pot, and slip-cast earthenware lidded sugar bowl and mug. All prototypes for the 'Portobello' shape, decorated with two-tone brown 'Maple' glazes. Private: (a) Tall thrown stoneware coffee pot, studio prototype, cylindrical in shape, tapering inwards towards top. Flared rim at top and deep flaring lip, circular lid sloping upward to tall central circular finial. Semi-circular notch cut out of lid at edge where it meets pot lip. Potting rings visible on pot and lid, large loop handle positioned half way down main body. Thick slightly speckled light golden amber glaze on upper third of body and on lid; bottom two thirds of body in dark chocolate brown, slightly iridescent; with band of thicker brown in middle where top glaze has run down to overlap on top of bottom glaze. (b) Slip-cast earthenware sugar bowl and mug in same design, both production prototypes. Mug of tall cylindrical shape with flaring rim and large loop handle positioned on lower half of body. Upper third of mug has amber coloured glaze, lower two thirds and handle in dark brown glaze, again slightly iridescent, with band of lighter brown between the two where top glaze has run down over lower glaze. Sugar bowl cylindrical in shape, with flaring rim and circular lid tapering upwards to a tall central finial. Lid and upper third of bowl in amber glaze, lower two thirds in dark brown iridescent glaze. Mug and sugar bowl only on display.
