Barges on the Yare: Sunset probably 1830s James Stark 1794 – 1859 James Stark was a Norfolk painter, who was well-known for his river views. This scene of rural trade at sunset displays Stark’s characteristic fresh colours. The willow trees and cattle show his other trait: they are very like those by Dutch painters of the 1600s.
