Summary

Public: Plate, soft paste porcelain, decorated in underglaze scale blue, with 'fancy birds' in overglaze enamels and gilt. Private: Circular plate with wide deep well, straight sloping sides and undulating rim. Upper surface covered in underglaze scale blue ground with rococo mirror-shaped and vase-shaped reserves in well, round central circular reserve with beaded gilt border. Central panel filled with bouquet of different flowers and foliage. Reserves outlined in elaborate gilt scrolls, vase reserves filled with single butterflies and foliage, mirror reserves each filled with different elaborate scene of exotic bird in landscape setting on banks of river. Six small reserves round edge, each filled with sprig of flowers, gilt beaded border to rim.
