A photographic project commissioned by Look 07, featuring eight groups and twelve artists expressing what is distinctive about their experience of Manchester.
Manchester Art Gallery
Saturday 14 April 2007–Sunday 8 July 2007
Each group worked with photographic techniques from polaroids and pinhole cameras to digital media. Groups like M13 in Ardwick, E2E in Longsight and Surestart in Moston chose to show the areas where they live. Young people from Full Circle Arts took photographs of the city centre, while a group of mothers from the Great Places Housing Association represented their daily lives in Manchester. A group of asylum seekers from the Women’s Electronic Hall combined their impressions into stunning collages, while two groups of older people from The Tree of Life group in Wythenshawe and Woodville Centre in Cheetham Hill used sequences of images to record their life experiences.
