Hulme-Hall, near Manchester
John Harwood (after) 1798 - 1856
Summary
A view of the higgledy-piggledy gables of the half-timbered building that was Hulme Hall, on the bank of the river Irwell, Manchester. The scene around the rambling manor house is one of prosperous activity, with a small sailed boat on the river, cattle beneath the trees, and well-to-do ladies and gentlemen taking the air on the river bank. Smoke drifts from several of the hall's old chimney stacks. In the distance can be seen a church spire and townscape.
