Summary

In this landscape, the moon rises behind the ruins of a castle located on the top of a hill in the centre background. A river runs at the base leading to the foreground centre. In the middle ground, a mill and some trees can be seen on the right bank while a masted boat sails in the centre. Another small boat and a group of figures can be seen in the foreground to the right, behind a line of figures that haul a net out of the water. A building with a high set of stairs at its front and another staircase besides stands on the left bank.
