Summary

A frieze-like composition known as 'The Platform Scene' (Cyprus; A platform near the sea). The main characters are standing on a platform. To the left Othello and Desdemona are flanked on the left by soldiers and a page carrying a helmet. Othello in armour is seen in profile holding Desdemona's right hand. To the right are a group of the other protagonists with one cloaked figure sloping off to the left with his right hand on his sword. This is the 46th print from Volume 2 of 'A Collection of Prints from Pictures Painted for the Purpose of Illustrating the Dramatic Works of Shakespeare by the Artists of Great Britain (1805)'. The description is 'Desdemona, Othello, Iago, Cassio, Roderigo, Emilia, etc.'.
