Summary

A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Jean-Antoine Watteau. The drawing shows a woman sitting on the ground with her back to the viewer and her skirt reaching into the left half of the composition. The woman's torso is in the right of the composition and she is leaning back, supporting herself with her hand on the floor in the centre front. She is wearing a lavish dress and has a hat on her head. Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society: "No. 33 ANTOINE WATTEAU (b. 1684; d. 1721) LADY RECLINING Collection of Mr. C. Ricketts and Mr. C. H. Shannon. Transfer from a brush-drawing. 11.6 x 13.3 cm. (4 5/8 x 5 1/4 in.) Study in reverse of a figure in L'Amour Paisible, now in the Königl. Schloss, Berlin (Klassischer Bilderschatz, 654). The same figure also occurs in many of Watteau's canvases."
