Summary

A reproduction produced by the Vasari Society of a drawing by Jean-Antoine Watteau. The drawing shows a man playing the flute and leaning on a ledge in front of him. The man is holding the flute to the left and is looking out at the viewer. His left arm is leaning across the ledge and is holding the upper part of the flute, while his right hand plays the notes lower down. To the left is another hand holding a thin object. Text from the accompanying booklet produced by the Vasari Society: "No. 35 ANTOINE WATTEAU (b. 1684; d. 1721) STUDY OF A FLUTE-PLAYER Collection of Mr. C. Ricketts and Mr. C. H. Shannon. Three chalks. 17.1 x 17.4 cm. (6 3/4 x 6 7/8 in.) Study made in all probability from a friend (note the contemporary wig and sleeve). It was used in the Concert Champêtre now in the museum at Angers."
