Dolbadarn Castle and Llyn Peris

Richard Wilson (after) 1714 - 1782

Summary

Serene landscape looking across a wide river towards the rounded turret of Dolbardarn Castle in Llyn Peris, Wales. Silhouetted against a bright sunset sky, the castle stands on the river's bank casting a reflection in the water below. In the foreground, a single figure sits on a rocky outcrop, fishing. To the right, a tall tree hangs over the river and further along the bank, dense trees lead towards the castle. A second figure is visible on the bank to the right and on the left, cattle graze beside the water's edge. In the distance, hills line the horizon beneath a hazy evening sky.
