Flower Holder
Summary
Public: Ovoid gourd-shaped vase moulded on integral stand, glazed tinted parian porcelain, painted underglaze in stained coloured liquid clay slips with a Japanese-inspired pattern of plants and dragonfly, with additional overglaze gilding. Private: Gourd shaped vase on integral square black four footed pedestal with gilt geometric fret decoration in imitation of a lacquered stand. Vase has pink terracotta ground with gilded dotted circles each containing a gilded dot. Vertical lines of gilding run down the folds of the vase which is boldly decorated underglaze in coloured slips with a large blue winged dragonfly, beetle, two narcissi and yellow/white iris. Decoration is detailed with fine gold lines and there is further gilding around the neck of the vase.
