Full length evening dress and matching jacket in black wool crepe; directoire style in princess line with black satin short puff sleeves and peter pan collar; jacket with curved fronts edged in black satin quilting; and with frogged loop and button fastening; woven label 'Mary Quant, London, 11'. Belonged to the actress, Sian Phillips, who recalled buying the outfit from Bazaar in the mid 1960s, and only wearing it once, for an opening of one of her husband's, Peter Doyle's, movies. She never felt that the Quant 'minis' suited her as she 'felt too tall and too grown up'!
