Summary
An engraved wooden printing block, used for the illustration on page 143 of PG Hamerton's book 'The Isles of Loch Awe and Other Poems of My Youth'. It shows a bend in a river running round stone blocks and boulders, and overhung with sinuous branches. 'On the River Brun', the ninth illustration of 16 in the book, is described as follows: 'The river Brun passes through Burnley (anciently Brunlay), nearer its source it passes Hurstwood'.
