Summary

Public: Teapot, stoneware, solid blue jasper with applied white reliefs depicting classical figures. Private: Bowl shaped teapot with straight sides tapering to curved base on circular footring. Solid blue jasper decorated around sides with two scenes in white relief; 'Sportive Love', seated woman bouncing Cupid on her knee; 'Charlotte at the Tomb of Werther', young girl with small dog kneeling before pedestal. Butterfly, dragonfly and vase motifs used as gap fillers. Engine-turned vertical ribbing around lower body, with relief border of simple leaves around base. Flat shoulder, rising slightly to neck, with ribbed band at junction with body, picked out with white twisted ribbon details. Straight short neck with scalloped edge, and relief decoration of interlocking circles, each circle enclosing a flower. Domed cover sitting in recessed neck rim, with engine-turned vertical ribbing, and teardrop shaped central finial decorated with white leaves and bordered by white beads and leaves. Finial pierced through centre.
