A Multi-media sculpture, photography and animation based on the theme of well-being.
Manchester Art Gallery
Saturday 28 February 2009–Sunday 5 July 2009
The award-winning, arts-based mental health service, Start Manchester, part of Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust, created this exhibition especially for display at Manchester Art Gallery. Start in Manchester help people recover from severe and enduring mental health issues through art and gardening.
For this exhibition, participants visited the gallery to explore the collection and were inspired to create their own artworks in sessions with artists, sculptors and photographers. The works created articulated the artists’ own feelings, aspirations and concerns and the exhibition, together with an associated programme of events, served to explore how creativity can directly impact on our sense of wellbeing.
Artists and participants selected the paintings on this trail for the positive thoughts and feelings they evoked.
