Painting depicting a view of a canal in Venice with two buildings in the background. There are small trees and gondolas to the left of the picture. Typical Venetian blocks of flats are seen in rich colours, the right-hand building is painted in brown, red and yellow, the building on the left is depicted in cream and dark red/brown. The water is in direct sunlight represented by a white central patch, the colours of the water elsewhere are dark green and brown, representative of the reflections from the buildings and trees behind. The sky is blue with white and grey clouds.
