Summary

Lozenge shaped teapot, with angled tapering base on moulded spreading foot, angled shoulder and short straight neck. S-shaped spout with hexagonal base moulded with Greek key border, plain loop handle with two notches in thumb rest and folded spur at lower terminal. Each side slip-cast in relief with central pecten shell within recessed panel, surrounded by deep borders of scrolling foliage incorporating birds across two sides to right of handle. Foliate borders repeated across shoulder, base and foot, all inlaid with cobalt blue slip, reserving central shell on each side plain white. Lozenge shaped domed cover with notched loop finial, decorated with scrolling foliage inlaid with blue. Glaze has picked up bluish tinge, particularly noticeable on notches of handle.
