Portrait of Lady Elizabeth Foster (1757-1824), daughter of Frederick Augustus Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol, Bishop of Derry; married to 1) John Thomas Foster 1776-80; 2) William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire in 1809. Lady Foster lived with her close friend Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire, and the Duke at Devonshire house in a menage a trois for 25 years. Following Georgina's death, she married the Duke and became Duchess of Devonshire herself.
