Summary

V-necked T shirt with short sleeves. Printed blue on off-white with "Toiles de Jouy" scenes of domestic 18th century France. Woven label cb neck "Vivienne Westwood, London, L Westwood based this design on a French jouy - see image - which survives in the Leeds City collections at Temple Newsam House. Plate-printed cotton, 'Le Couronnement de la rosière' (The Crowning of the Rose Maiden) Designed by Jean Huet, French, 1745 - 1811 Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf, French, 1738 - 1815 Jouy-en-Josas, France, 1789 - 92 Cotton: Plate-printed cotton, white ground with red pattern by Jean-Baptiste Huet of figures in contemporary dress in a pastoral setting. The division of the isolated vignettes with arabesques of acanthus leaves is suggestive of the style of Louis XVI.
