Summary

A sensitive drawing of a man about to embark on a painting. The man is seated facing towards the left, while he looks out at the viewer. An empty canvas sits at the left edge of the composition, and the man raises his right hand to it holding a paint brush and a measuring stick. The room has wooden paneled walls and a shelf that runs around these on which there are various objects. A row of pictures are positioned at the top of the composition and a religious icon picture hangs just to the left of the man's head. In the top left of the picture is a disjointed lampshade and light bulb, from which hangs a cord that is looped up where the pictures sit. In the background is a large canvas propped against the wall, revealing the back of the picture. The man's expression is serious and thoughtful.
