George Barret the Younger ca.1767 - 1842

Summary

To the left and right foreground of the painting are trees and mixed foliage. In the centre is a path with two horses, the one on the right being ridden by a person in a hat whilst leading the other by its reins. Both horses have packs on their backs. Slightly aheaad on the path a man leads a horse towards the sea in the background. This scene is set at night as the moon is high above them casting very long shadows and reflections.
