Summary

A busy scene, vernacular buildings on the left denote a town with a market stall in the street with blue and white striped awning. A woman and child stand in the left foreground with baskets and watch a group of men and women praying on the steps of a cathedral to their right. The centre and right side of the painting are dominated by a large gothic arch decorated with sculptures of robed male figures standing in niches . In the foreground a group of peope kneel and stand in front of one of the entrances to the cathedral.
