Manchester from the Cliff, Higher Broughton, Salford
Summary
View of Manchester from Higher Broughton, Salford. Pastoral landscape with figures in the foreground in green fields. The smoking chimneys of industrial Manchester can be seen in the distance. The river Irwell runs through the centre of the landscape. There is a later version of this view in the Royal Collection, Windsor, entitled 'Manchester from Kersal Moor' (their reference number RCIN 920223), which Queen Victoria commissioned from William Wyld soon after her visit to Manchester in 1851.
