Early Balenciaga evening jacket in ivory silk satin figured with silver metal tracery showing creatures and foliage; lightly padded shoulders and padded front hips; flying front pockets with flaps forming curved front basques; waisted; single breasted, fastening with 5 circular self fabric buttons; small turn-down collar; large brown on cream woven label, 'Balenciaga, 10 Avenue George V, Paris'. This dates from Balenciaga's earliest time in Paris, as he opened his house on Avenue George V in August 1937.
