Fete at St. Cloud
Charles Ernest Cundall 1890 - 1971
Summary
Fairground scene at St. Cloud, viewed from above. Various stalls and fairground rides are in the foreground, including a bandstand with musicians playing, on the right, and horses being groomed on the left. Crowds of people are milling about between stalls, and there is an architectural monument in the background against wooded setting. There are groups of French flags on posts throughout the vicinity with the French coat of arms (in gold and light blue) beneath the flags. The background is in naturalistic colours whereas the fairground features colours of jollity such as reds, pinks and light blues. St. Cloud is two kilometres north of Sevres. The park with its elaborate system of fountains was designed by le Notre.
