Summary

A church interior with a large and elaborate tomb at the centre. The tomb has a stone base and a wooden canopy and is highly decorated. A number of people surround the tomb, with clerics kneeling at the left rail and a nun standing to the right. The Shrine of Edward the Confessor is in Westminster Abbey. Hedley Fitton was an artist noted for his architectural etchings including cathedrals. He was born in Didsbury, Manchester, in 1858 and resident there during the 1890s when he was an editor and illustrator for the Daily Chronicle in Manchester. He later moved permanently to Surrrey where he died in 1929.
