Summary

Public: Miniature basket with high loop handle, soft paste porcelain, relief-moulded edges and raised gilt decoration of a peacock in a leafy bush, against a crimson ground. Private: Ornate miniature basket of moulded rectangular shape on deep flared rectangular foot. Curved rounded sides relief-moulded with foliate borders and two fleurs-de-lys, one at each end of rectangle. Tall white loop handle in the form of two branches reaching up from centre of long sides and meeting in the centre. Upper surface of basket decorated with a deep crimson enamel ground and with a central pattern of a peacock perched in a leafy bush, in raised gilt. Relief-moulded borders and twig handle picked out in gilt, plain gilt border to underside of basket rim, gilt tongue border to foot.
