Summary

Public: Saucer, bone china, painted in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze enamels and gilt with birds and flowers. Private: Deep saucer with narrow flat well and long straight sloping sides, narrow tapering footring. Painted on upper surface with underglaze blue ground leaving four mirror-shaped reserves around central circular reserve in well. Blue ground decorated in heavy gilding with chased scrolls and detail. Panels painted in bright enamels with alternating flower groups and single birds perched on leafy branch. Central panel is outlined in plain gilt and painted in enamel with single butterfly. Plain gilt rim.
