Summary

Public: Moulded squared bowl, white earthenware, with transfer-printed pattern of stylised flowers and trees in underglaze cobalt blue. Private: Deep squared bowl with curving sides,vertical indentation down each corner and undulating rim. Squared footring, also indented at each corner. Interior printed with oriental pattern entitled 'India' (see notes), of stylised trees and flowers with large butterfly at top right. Narrow laurel border separates this from wide border inside rim of eight panels, each with one of four different flower groups repeated once on different diaper grounds. Same pattern repeated on exterior, running round sides and footring.
