Summary

Public: Pear-shaped cream jug with cylindrical neck on three feet in the form of a claw and ball and a loop handle. White, salt glazed stoneware with relief decoration on either side of a pecten shell, scrolls and flowering plants. Domed cover. Private: Pear-shaped cream jug tapering to tall cylindrical neck with deep sparrow beak lip. Three applied feet in the form of a claw and ball surmounted by a scallop shell, applied loop handle with five short and two long notches at the top and spur at lower terminal. Fine two-part slip-cast body with relief decoration on each side, of large pecten shell surmounted by pendant scrolls and flanked by flowering plants. Join marks of two halves disguised by narrow plain relief band running from lip to handle. Slip-cast body coated with a fine white slip, now crazed and slightly discoloured. Shallow domed oval cover with flattened ridged rim and relief-moulded decoration of two flowerheads and two scallop shells. Flattened circular button finial, with small hole pierced to one side.
