Sheep on the Common

Thomas Sidney Cooper 1803 - 1902

Summary

A group of 3 sheep in the middle of a flat field, set against a troubled sky. Beyond them to the right, more fields can be seen until the darkening horizon. To the left, the branches of a shrub blow in the wind. Two white sheep are laying down, one facing the viewer, the other facing out to the left. The black sheep is standing up, on slightly higher ground, facing the left with the other sheep. The whites, browns and greens of the sheep and their land are met with the darkening greys and blues of the sky.
