Summary

Three square plastic-bodied earthenware tiles, coated in white slip and decorated with hand-transferred underglaze 'Persian' colours: black, green, yellow, purple and olive/brown. One of the tiles is missing and, according to the sketch for the design, should have had a design of a large carnation surrounded by scrolling foliage. The remaining two tiles have the second part of the design, consisting of green foliage with Turkish-/Iznik-style serrated leaves and yellow buds; they both have the same design, but in mirror image to each other and differing slightly in detail. The word 'carnation' is pencilled on the reverse of one tile.
