wall tile
William Frend de Morgan 1839 - 1917
Summary
Two square plastic-bodied earthenware tiles, coated in white slip and decorated with hand-transferred underglaze 'Persian' colours: black, yellow and green. One of the tiles (the 'left' tile) is missing, and would presumably have been the same as the remaining tile, perhaps with the design in mirror image. The design consists of five flowers in two tones of yellow and all, to varying degrees, obscured by the green leaves.
