A woman is seated to his left, with a dog lying on the grass on his right, a basket on the floor between them. In the background, behind a wall, is a square tower with a pointed roof topped with a sphere. Behind this a larger building is visible. private: The distinctive architectural feature in the background has been identified as the summer house on Croom's Hill, near Greenwich Park.
