Mocking the Helpless

Thomas Rowlandson 1756 - 1827

Summary

Two caricatured figures - one behind bars. The figure behind bars has his fists clenched against his cheeks and is wearing a shirt with cuffs unbuttoned. There is a padlock to the left. The man in front of the bars wears a hat and a cape and his head is turned to face the man behind bars. His mouth is turned up in a grotesque leer.
