Crumpsall Hall
Summary
HG James made a series of35 lithographs of old halls around Manchester, of which this is one. Crumpsall Hall appears a ramshackle timber-framed building with diamond-paned leaded windows and huge stone rooftiles. A crazy fence of rounded wooden planks runs before the hall, and trees surround it. A small plume of smoke comes from the chimney and a figure waits in the doorway of a lean-to that adjoins the hall to the right.
