Summary

Dress and petticoat. Cream silk with woven gold stripe, heavily beaded. Warp is bombay mori silk; weft is wild silk probably tuffah; lining is bombay mori silk. Bodice - low square neck back and front, sleeveless. Darts front and back for shaping, fastening down centre back with zip-fastener. Loops on side seams for hanging. Decorated with horizontal bands of glass and gilt beads, with hanging imitation crystal beads. Straight 1.3cm belt with bow. Underbodice - of white rayon in straight section with shoulder straps fastened to bodice straps at shoulder. Darted front and back for shaping, boned at sideseams. Fastening down CB with separate zip-fastening. Manufacturer's woven label 'Christian Dior - London Ltd., UK Regd, Modele Original Made in England 31946'. Skirt, lined with silk muslin, in one section with CB seam, softly pleated into waist with darts in pleats. Top decorated with three bands of beads to match bodice. Plastic tag on seam at hem 'Christian Dior-London Ltd Modele Original Made in England'. Petticoat, white nylon net. 7.6cm curved basque on corded ribbon waistband with tabs for hanging, fastening with hooks and eyes down CB, joined to skirt, closely gathered into waist.
